These are the items that I always bring with us when we travel (aka RV) with our dog. These items like make life easier and that makes them worth the storage space and cost at least for me because I’m not trying to make life anymore difficult then it has to be. 1.) Kurgo Dog Saddle Bag
I really love this bag for our dog, she weights around 60 pounds and this gives us extra hand holds just incase she gets really excited to go after a rabbit or something when we are out and about. Also the pockets on the side are big enough for her to carry a water bottle, treats, and poop bags!
2.) Waggle
What the heck is a Waggle?! It’s a small pet monitor device that plugs into the RV to monitor the temperature and power to the RV while we are away (like a grocery store or other area that does’t allow dogs). For me it’s worth EVERY penny for my peace of mind knowing that I can see the temperature and that the power hasn’t gone out so I KNOW she is safe and isn’t going to over heat or freeze! If you use my link you get a discount and I get a credit – win win! Here is the link to their amazing product: WAGGLE REFER A FRIEND. It’s also available on amazon.
3.) Dog Bowls and collapsible water dish
A collapsible water dish that you can clip on a bag, leash, or dog bag is the best thing to bring along on hike or even a walk around the neighborhood. Honestly this one is almost a must have especially on hot days or long walks! I also like to have a set of dedicated stainless steel dog bowls to keep in the RV so there is no doubt who they belong to and they are super easy to clean! I also prefer ones with the rubber on the bottom so they won’t slide around on the floor when my dog is eating.
4.) Dog poop holder and poop bags
Nothing is worst then having to carry around a stinky bag of poop! I really love the dog doo tube that I got on amazon. It holds 1-2 dog poops for us which works well for us because she rarely poops more then twice on a walk. It does a wonderful job of keeping the stink down and freeing up my hands until we get to a garbage can or dumpster. I also purchase her poop bags in bulk on amazon as it’s easier to have rolls at home, clipped to her leash, in the camper, in the car, etc… This way I always have extras on hand just incase.
5.) Treat bag and Carabiner clips
Nothing in life is free – this holds true for dogs as well. Rabbits and squirrels are very distracting for a dog and having a bag of treats is a great way to get them to refocus on you and what you need them to do instead. That’s why I like having this bag with us whenever we go anywhere. I also like having extra carabiner clips around to be able to clip things like flash lights so I can stay hand free. Don’t forget your doggies favorite treats!
6.) Dog tie out
We have a couple of these around. We have one in the front yard, one in the backyard, and one in the camper. This is just much simpler when you are sitting by the campfire not to have to hold the leash – especially if your cooking over the fire! We our camper has a clip on it specifically for this purpose but we have also clipped her to the picnic table as well. I try not to use it around trees as it can damage the bark. Our pup does sometimes get tangled but generally not too bad since we are right there so help her out. We purchased this one – which is super long and honestly I wish we had gone a little shorter but just wrap it around a few times or I tie a knot with a carabiner through it to shorter it and that works for us.
7.) Towel and Mudbuster Dog Paw Washer
I honestly just use an old towel that’s retired from our bathroom at home but you there are tons of dog towels that are cute on amazon you could purchased if you wanted to. I linked to a product that looks good from reviews to me below. I do have the Mudbuster Dog Paw Washer and its a must have for us in the muddy rainy spring here in the midwest. Basically all trails that aren’t paved here are mud pits in the spring. This was a great investment as it allows me to get all the mud off her paws before allowing her inside the camper or house. She isn’t restricted from our furniture so I definitely want her cleaned up before she jumps up to cuddle!
8.) Musher’s Secret Paw Protection
9.) Dog rain coat
This isn’t really necessary and my pup doesn’t like to have to hood up but she will wear this willingly as she prefers not to get wet. It is super cute and it cuts down on the time it takes to dryer off after a wet walk! We like to go for walks, rain, snow, or sunshine so for us this is a worthwhile purchase – plus it’s super cute!
10.) 6 foot leash – actually this one might be a requirement most places.
A good 6 foot leash isn’t just a good thing to have, in lots of areas it’s actually a requirement! I like a nylon leash, with reflective stitches, two handles (padded is better) and an extra clip for poop bag holders. My girl is a puller and at 60 pounds she is a big puller. We use a martingale collar and a 6 foot leash like the ones below. We can’t have her in a regular collar because if she sees a rabbit she will back out of her collar to go get it hence the martingale collar which prevents her from doing that.
